Västerås ~ The Hague

17 December 2015

17 Year old Iyad Alhasan made a rap in his new home town Västerås in Sweden. He traveled all the way from Damascus to live a peaceful life in the hope to return one day to his homeland Palestine. Young Dutch composer Pelle van Es received his Musical Postcard and made in record time a musical response that is called 'Hope'. He used Iyad's last sentence of his rap in his composition because this embodied the core of his poetic rage...."There is but one word and that is 'Hope'". The chamber Orchestra of the Royal Conservatory in The Hague performed his piece on December 17 in The Hague.
Watch and listen to their Musical Postcard exchange.

PELLE VAN ES

“I really liked hearing this Musical Postcard and I admire that people create music even in difficult situations.”
