Kiserian ~ Maastricht

21 April 2016

Johnson is 20 years old and lives in Kiserian, south of Nairobi in Kenya. He worked since he was eight years old and collected plastic bottles to feed himself and his brothers and sisters. Due to his harsh life circumstances he has had a period of drug addiction, but he found out that through rap music - that he learned from boys in the street - he could do something more. He learned how to read and write and within his church community people noticed him and gave him a stage. He made his own songs under his artist name J Prince and people were interested to buy his music. In his music he speaks to a younger generation not to give up hope in life. He inspires people to live a better life.

The students in Maastricht were touched by J Prince his optimism and strength and literally wanted to share his message with others. They performed their composition "Message to share" on 21 April in a former NATO Base in the caves of Maastricht, a spectacular place for a concert.
